For the 2026 edition of Art Basel in Switzerland, GRAY presents in the fair’s Galleries, Kabinett, and Unlimited sectors.
In the Galleries sector (Booth F7), GRAY features works by artists from across our Modern and Contemporary programs, including Candida Alvarez, McArthur Binion, Roger Brown, Torkwase Dyson, Theaster Gates, David Hockney, Alex Katz, Judy Ledgerwood, and Jaume Plensa, among others.
For the Kabinett sector, GRAY presents a rare suite of drawings by Roy Lichtenstein. Spanning 1963 to 1989, these works express a stylistic shift in the artist’s practice as he turned to newspaper advertisements, cartoons, and other vernacular sources of material in the early 1960s, eschewing the dominance of New York’s Abstract Expressionist aesthetics. This presentation underscores the importance of drawing to Lichtenstein's practice and to the development of his paintings. Often fully resolved, these studies retain visible graphite and colored pencil, revealing the artist’s hand in contrast to the calculated surfaces of his finished works. Together, they offer rare insight into Lichtenstein’s evolving process.
GRAY and Pace will co-present at Art Basel Unlimited with Torkwase Dyson’s, Way Over There Inside Me (A Festival of Inches), 2022. Through intensive research into built and natural environments, her practice explores the ways people–especially Black and brown communities–have historically and continue to navigate, negotiate, and negate normative systems of power and spatial order. Derived from her research on the relationship between Black liberation methodologies, plantation economies, and the contemporary environmental crisis, Dyson’s installation of four interconnected glass and steel sculptures, Way Over There Inside Me (A Festival of Inches), investigates Black spatial history during the Great Migration period (1915-70).
