Richard Gray Gallery is pleased to announce participation in EXPO Chicago’s Art After Hours and a live performance at Gray Warehouse by multi-hyphenate musician Majel Connery. Showcasing her breadth of talents as a vocalist, composer, producer, and former opera singer, Connery will be performing tracks from her recently released debut solo EP Anything Chartreuse. Inspired by Connery’s intense obsession with the color green, Anything Chartreuse is named after a line from her favorite children’s book, When the Sky Is Like Lace, by Elinor Lander Horwitz. Pulling from her roots in classical opera, Connery blends elements of other genres including electronic, contemporary pop, and indie rock to create her distinct musical sound and unique compositional style.
Connery’s performance will take place on Friday, September 20th at 8 PM amid the gallery’s current exhibition, Leon Polk Smith: Endless Space, a historical survey dedicated to the artist’s iconic multi-part paintings and drawings. Gray Warehouse will offer extended hours from 6-9 PM in collaboration with EXPO Chicago After Hours. Leon Polk Smith: Endless Space opens at the gallery on Friday, September 13th, and continues through Saturday, November 23rd.
