On the occasion of his solo exhibition at Gray Warehouse, Time and More, Space and More..., David Hockney joins us at the gallery to discuss his video work, the experience of seeing from a multitude of vantage points, and his interest in photographic technology.
Time and More, Space and More… presents Hockney’s recent video and photographic works in tandem. To produce these works, Hockney uses the camera to depict impossible visual spaces - a theme which he has carried throughout his practice across a variety of media. Striving to replicate the kaleidoscopic experience of seeing through a composite of vantage points, the videos and photographic drawings on view in the exhibition offer a panoramic sense of time and space. Both Hockney’s video works and large-scale photo drawings came about through the artist's own innovations to photographic and technological processes.
David Hockney: Time and More, Space and More... ran at Gray Warehouse in Chicago from September 13 until November 21, 2018.
